A rare piece of French kitchen history, these vintage vinegar jars were discovered in the Loire Valley of France and come from a centuries old pottery tradition.

The original factory was established by Stanislas Renault in 1847 in Bonny sur Loire, an area known for its exceptional clay. For generations, the pottery used a traditional salt glazing technique, adding salt to the kiln at peak temperature to create the distinctive glassy, textured surface for which these pieces became known.

Production has since ceased, making the remaining pieces increasingly special. Their classic silhouettes, earthy brown, white, and salt glazed finishes, and wonderfully substantial construction have made them sought after by collectors of vintage French kitchenware.

Traditionally used for vinegar, these beautiful old crocks can also be used for olive oil or simply displayed in the kitchen as a collected object with history and character.

Each jar is authentically vintage and one of a kind. Variations in color, glaze, dimensions, and signs of age are expected and part of what makes each piece unique.
